Comment by Simona on July 17, 2011 at 11:22pm: I left my country Romania in 1998 when I was 18 with parents to come to US for a better life and more freedom. My country used to be communist until 1989 and I remember really well how it was to sit in lines for hours to get meat, eggs, flour etc...I also remember how I got pulled into the streets when it was hot or cold, rain or snow to wave and smile to the president passing in his car near our road sometimes. My parents used to whisper and talk in their room (scared that the neighbor might tell them on and they end up in prison) about how bad communism was and how it changed us all but I used to think that they were wrong and they are exaggerating so I ignored them. I was brainwashed to think that was ok to not have freedoms and to sit in line and to worship the president! Then I came to US and years later I see that some things are changing, we are losing our freedoms and we are losing the freedom of speech. I can see it because I LIVED IT BEFORE. It makes me very sad but the way were are heading is obviously bad.
